Jake O'Neil tackles Gauntlet at The Gap
Jake made the trip to the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee this past week for the four-night $100,00+ to win Gauntlet at the Gap event.
Tuesday night, Jake qualified 10th before finishing fifth in both his heat race and the b-main, setting himself up with the 21st starting spot in the night's feature race. When the feature was done, he was credited with a 20th place finish.
Wednesday night, he qualified 6th, ran fourth in his preliminary heat race and then ran inside the top twenty all feature long, finishing 17th.
After an off night on Thursday, he unloaded again on Friday night and had his best qualifying effort of the week, qualifying third, putting him on the front row of his heat race. He was able to run second in his heat, earning the 6th starting spot in the night's feature race. In the feature, he crossed the finish line with a 15th place finish.
Saturday, for the $30,000 to win finale, he qualified 5th, ran fourth in his heat race and then again ran inside the top twenty all 60 laps, finishing the weekend with a 20th place finish for his efforts.
