Jake O-Neil fifth in XR Dominator at Salina Highbanks Speedway
Jake entered the $100,000 to win XR Dominator at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor, Oklahoma this past weekend in one of the biggest paying events in Modified history. Friday night, teams practiced and qualified.
Jake qualified 11th in his group and then chose the 5th starting spot in his heat race to start the events on Saturday. From his fifth starting spot in the heat race, he rallied through the field to win it, locking himself into the 10th starting spot for the night's 60-lap, $100,000 to win feature event.
In the night's feature, which was full of drama and suspense, Jake raced into the top five at one point, before spinning and restarting at the tail. From the tail, he rallied back through traffic until he cut a tire, sending him to the work area and to the tail for the second time. From the tail the second time, he charged back through the field, eventually running inside the top five when the checkered flag flew.
